Daddy Duck found this yesterday...

It is a poem I wrote on 2/19/08, while we were waiting in the emergency room with Sugar Baby for hours & hours & hours when she was diagnosed. We were stuck in that room for quite a while, doing anything we could think of to pass the time. Sugar Baby colored, played with my phone, played I spy, read every sign/label in the tiny room, counted spots on the ceiling, etc... In an attempt to amuse her, I wrote this poem. I had forgotten all about it until Daddy Duck handed it to me yesterday. It really sums up that day we spent in the ER. It is called Amazing Abby.

There once was a girl named Abby
who got poked until she became crabby
well, actually she wasn't, she was really quite brave
and not once did her mother have to make her behave
She was patient and kind and long had to wait
and be poked, pricked and tickled in room number 8
She was hooked to a bag and starved and not fed
as she waited for someone upstairs to give her their bed
There were signs and warnings all over the room
"Bio Hazard!", "No Drink", "Cancel", "No Food!"
Noises and beeps echoed all through the hall
Babies crying, nurses laughing, paging doctors on call
A dry turkey sandwich and a diet ginger ale
were all that was given to poor Abigail
She looked so cute in her "tired tiger" gown
as she lay with her head hanging upside down
Her mom was so sad that her Abby was sick
She cried whenever her little girl was pricked
Abby was nervous and laughed and giggled a lot
But she was so strong - a wimp, she was not!
A lot like Pippi - the strongest girl in the world
That's my awesome, and amazing, and sweet Abby-girl!

I love you, Sugar Baby!
